In reply to your Despatch No. 157 of the

4th. ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that the villagers

of Tung Lo-Wan are poor and the site of the Temple is of very

small value.

2.

The provision referred to in the 4th. para-

graph of your Despatch is usually made in grants of this

nature.

3.

Such grants are not recommended except in

deserving cases, and I am of opinion that the present grant

will not make an inconvenient precedent.
